The_Grand_Lotus is a 2b2t spawnfag and the founder of Highland. He joined in 2016 and is known for his automated Highland recruitment spam in global chat, his role in the sabotage of the United Group Embassy, and for nuking the 2b2t Media Archive Discord in September 2020. He also maintained the nether hub for a period and served as a moderator on the Media Archive before destroying it.
History
Early days and Highland
The_Grand_Lotus joined 2b2t in 2016, self-describing as a "midfag" in chat on multiple occasions. In late 2016 he met SonEasterZombie at spawn on his alt d00pedbedrock, explained Highland to him, and briefly brought him into the group. By early 2017 he had co-founded Highland with CasparovJR, with the group officially establishing itself on April 1, 2017. The stated goal was to provide a better experience for players while remaining independent and neutral. In practice, Highland became well known for handing out golden apples and max-enchant gear to new players at spawn and was blamed by others for enabling chat spam and spawnfaggotry.
The_Grand_Lotus became notorious as the group's most active recruiter, using the chat-spammer feature of Future Client to post rotating Highland slogans and Discord invite links in global chat every six minutes. Lines like "HIGHLAND OVER EVERYTHING", "DEATH MEANS NOTHING", and "PROMOTING A BETTER PLAYER EXPERIENCE" became a recognisable fixture of the server's chat throughout his active years. Chat logs confirm this automated spam running at least as far back as September 2018 and continuing through multiple periods of activity.
Shortly after Highland's founding, CasparovJR was invited to the SpawnMasons and left the group following a major disagreement with The_Grand_Lotus. Without him, Highland shifted further toward crystal PvP.
United Group Embassy
The_Grand_Lotus and Fluffbuck3t joined the United Group Embassy as Highland's representatives during its early 2018 phase. The UGE was a coalition of over a dozen groups intended to foster inter-group cooperation. During construction of the third physical Embassy, The_Grand_Lotus placed a sign at nether 0,0 containing the base's coordinates, which he later acknowledged was done as a form of revenge for what he considered a mocking factionball emoji representing Highland. Highland was immediately expelled from the UGE as a result.
During the same period, Highland and Infrared formed the Alpha Alliance in opposition to the UGE, viewing it as Emperium-controlled. The_Grand_Lotus was himself a trusted member of Infrared during this time and shared a close relationship with the group throughout 2017 and 2018.
Sixth Incursion and the nether hub
The_Grand_Lotus participated in the Sixth Incursion in April and May 2018, contributing to the construction of the Great Obsidian Wall around spawn. The Spawn article also identifies him alongside Eldontyrell, Killet, and others as a player known for maintaining the nether hub during this period.
2b2t Media Archive
The_Grand_Lotus served as a moderator on the 2b2t Media Archive, one of the largest 2b2t community Discord servers with over 4,500 members. On September 10, 2020, he nuked the server in his capacity as moderator, destroying it entirely. His own chat logs confirm the action, with him referencing it multiple times in the days and weeks afterward. Joey_Coconut subsequently founded the Discord Archive as a replacement, which he later handed to Chipoff.
Highland revival and later activity
After The_Grand_Lotus left 2b2t, Highland went inactive in early 2020. deathcurz0 revived the group in April 2022 with his consent and many old members rejoined, though deathcurz0 also went inactive shortly after. The_Grand_Lotus returned to the server himself in subsequent years, continuing to spam Highland recruitment messages in global chat and periodically announcing "highland spawn takeover" events. He was also a past member of the Guardsmen.
Chat logs from 2023 show him still active, identifying himself as the founder of Highland, running recruitment for what he called a "highland spawn takeover discord," and continuing to engage with the server's community.
