thePOMPANO is a 2b2t player who joined in 2013. He was a close associate of Jacktherippa and pYr01v1aniac during the server's early years, and is known for building "Horse City 666" and for his method of locating bases along the X=0 axis vector.
History
Early days
thePOMPANO's earliest recorded connection is November 23, 2013. His first day's chat logs show him already familiar with 2b2t specifically, comparing a spawn area on another server unfavorably to 2b2t's and asking for coordinates in what was evidently not his first time on the server. This suggests he joined sometime before November 2013.
On his first recorded day, he was already in the company of Jacktherippa and pYr01v1aniac, two of the server's early prominent players, addressing them by name and coordinating travel with them. This friendship persisted throughout his active period, with the majority of his chat logs from 2013 and 2014 addressed directly to one or both of them.
In December 2013, when another player referenced oldfags, thePOMPANO replied "WHAT DO YOU MEAN OLDFAGS; I'M FORTY-THREE," making him one of the oldest players by age documented on the server.
Base building and hunting
thePOMPANO was an active explorer and base builder during the 2014 period. He developed a personal method for locating bases, stating in April 2014: "I GENERALLY FIND ALL THE BASES IM LOOKING FOR BY CHECKING VECTOR X = 0" — a technique of scanning along the zero X axis where players historically clustered.
His primary building project during this period was "Horse City 666," later refined to the working title "HORSE CITY DUDE RANCH." The base incorporated horses as a central theme; he named one horse Incitatus after Caligula's horse from Roman history, and worked to transport it across the ocean to the base's location.
