kyle_rayner_ion is a 2b2t mapart maker, trader, and builder who joined no later than 2014. He is best known for creating what was the largest mapart on 2b2t before the first map reset, a 3x3 piece made predominantly in blue, and for his close association with Goodwill Trading, the trading and collecting group whose members described him as a trusted friend and fellow trader. He has been a member of the SpawnMasons.
History
Early days
kyle_rayner_ion's earliest recorded connection is May 26, 2015, but his chats from that day place him firmly as a veteran. On his first recorded day he greeted popbob, referenced PollytheParrot's place having been burnt "a long time ago," and asked about the NFE (Negative FourHundred Eighthundred) sanctuary, all indicating familiarity with the server's history going back well before 2015. A June 2015 chat states "I had a base once only 7k out that lasted a year," further implying activity from at least 2014. His 2015 and 2016 chats show him on familiar terms with players including Coldwave, jared2013, Jacktherippa, and Offtopia, referencing them as known quantities in the community.
Mapart and trading
Before the first map reset, kyle_rayner_ion created what was at the time the largest mapart on 2b2t: a 3x3 piece built predominantly in blue, making use of a palette that was notable for its size. The Goodwill Trading article describes it as "the biggest mapart (3 by 3, all unique pieces, even relatively easily made because of the blue color) on 2b2t before the first map reset," crediting it directly to him.
He was one of Goodwill Trading's close associates and collectors, listed alongside BenitoTortellini, ufocrossing, and others as players with whom Goodwill maintained a good trading relationship, contributing to the group's ability to build one of the server's largest pre-reset map art collections. A September 2018 chat referencing Benito confirms this connection persisted into later years.
SpawnMasons
kyle_rayner_ion was a member of the SpawnMasons, humorously calling himself a "SpoonMason" in a September 2018 chat while using the group's "smib" greeting in 2019. He was an inhabitant of Chunk Haven, the SpawnMason spawnbase built around glitchy chunk terrain that ran from October 2020 to June 2021.
Later activity
kyle_rayner_ion remained intermittently active through at least March 2025, with a December 2024 session showing him still on the server. His activity across the years was periodic rather than sustained, consistent with a long-term player who returns and dips out over time. His death count of only three deaths across a decade reflects a cautious, non-combat-oriented playstyle.
