The 1 Million TNT Detonation was an event organized by Forceken on December 31, 2020 in collaboration with the Infinity Incursion and Fight Club. Over one million TNT blocks were placed in survival mode and detonated with more than 40 players lured inside the structure, setting what was recognized as the largest TNT explosion ever recorded in survival Minecraft.

History

Construction

The event was conceived as part of Fight Club, Forceken's recurring community event series. The plan was to build a cube of one million TNT blocks in survival, disguise it as a New Year's Eve celebration, and detonate it with as many players inside as possible. The Infinity Incursion participated in organizing the event, and redstoners contributed a large portion of the TNT supply.

More than 20 players helped construct the cube, finishing the main structure within a single day. Franknificant used the remaining time to build one of his churches out of TNT at the site, and Banana_on_2b2t constructed a pagoda tower also made from TNT. To maximize casualties, the top of the cube was layered with anvils designed to fly outward on detonation and deal fall damage to anyone who survived the initial blast. A ring of firework rockets was buried around the outside of the cube to launch at the moment of ignition, adding lag on top of the explosion. A portal was dug into the center of the cube, which unsuspecting attendees would walk through.

The detonation

To draw a crowd, Forceken advertised free gear kits through Fight Club and directed members to meet him in the Nether. Among those who arrived were Turkish YouTuber Dogukan Adal and his friend Porz. Players were walked to the portal leading into the cube, and once enough had gathered inside, the TNT was ignited.

The explosion dropped the server to around 3-4 TPS, leaving many players frozen mid-air as 2b2t struggled to process it. Forceken and Dogukan Adal were killed almost immediately. One attendee who had been screen recording at the time later shared the footage with Forceken, who included it in his video of the event. Dogukan Adal and Porz were reported to have taken being tricked in good spirit.

Aftermath

The detonation was widely recognized as the largest TNT explosion ever recorded in survival Minecraft. The event was covered by Forceken and later by FitMC, whose video brought it to a broader audience. It also marked the conclusion of Fight Club's 2020 events, following an earlier event held at Franknificant's recreation of the Berliner Cathedral.
