-X Diggers

Overview

-X Diggers is a group founded by Metrez and Bramblery back in November of 2017. Their goal was to gather players who were willing to help and dig the -X highway in the Nether all the way to the overworld worldborder.

History

After hearing that no one has dug the -X highway in a while, Metrez decided to take action. Metrez posted a reddit post about his project 6th of November 2017. A day later he had recived messages from a lot of people who were interested in the project and were willing to help. Metrez and Bramblery created a public discord for people who were interested in helping could join. After succesfully setting up the public discord they also made a Private Discord were people who traveled out to -850k Nether could join. People who traveled out to -850k Nether were invited to the private discord and became apart of the -X Diggers Team. Although the highway was heavily filled with traps, bad infrastructure and so on, Metrez managed to get a few people to help maintain the highway until the then-current digsite, -850k. After succesfully performing this project he decided that he wanted to dig all the way to the world border. Metrez set a date of when the dig was going to start. He told people that the dig was going to start the 13th of November 2017 and people who wanted to come dig with him had to arrive at the checkpoit before the 13th. Some players who arrived at the checkpoint days before the official start of the dig became tired of waiting and started digging. At the 13th they had managed to dig a few 100k in the nether and the people at the checkpoint had to travel to the end to finally start digging themselves. The team decided they were going to make checkpoits every 100k blocks nether for people to write their names and see their progression.

Drama

At around 19 million blocks overworld, a known member of the -X team named tr3b0r85 got killed while AFK. tr3b0r85 decided to make a visit to his stash to get all the resources he needed, then maded someone load his pearl back to 19 million. At this point the highway was extended to 20 million blocks and tr3b0r85 traveled to 20 million and went AFK again. Before he went AFK he started recording a video of himself in thirdperson. Then, about 1 hour into the video, a member of the -X team popped up on the footage and killed the Then, tr3b0r85. He got caught and said that he did it for the lol's and that he was planning to grief more monuments + that he had set traps everywhere already.

Final Stretch

The -X Team then decided to have a small pause at 20 million to fix all the monuments. After succesfully doing so, the digging continued. After digging for a few more weeks the diggers arrived at -3,74 million in Nether. Metrez decided that all the diggers had to stop at -374000 and do the final 10,000 blocks as a team. Because obviously not everyone could be online at the same time due to timezones, Metrez made a strawpoll and the final dig was decided to be held at December 22, 2017. The -X Digger Team arrived at the -X world border 22th of November 2017 and managed to dig from -850k all the way to 3,75 million nether in under two months. When the team arrived they decided that they were going to make a Christmas themed world border checkpoint since they arrived two days before Christmas Eve. Metrez built a huge Christmas Tree with lots of decorations and presents for each one of the diggers.

Metrez posted a post on r/2b2t with a lot of pictures taken during the dig.
