'''Lavacasts''' are player-created structures often used for griefing. They are what gives [[spawn]] its easily recognizable look. Lavacasts consist of cobblestone, and sometimes lesser amounts of obsidian (as a result of incorrect lava/water placement). Lavacasts usually resemble mountains or pyramids, and sometimes but can take many different shapes depending on the manner in which they were cast, or terrain features underneath. Lavacasts often contain small air pockets.

==Usage==
Lavacasts are generally used to quickly grief large areas. They are also sometimes used to create walls or large structures in general. A rare but well-known usage of lavacasts is creating huge symbols, the most famous example of this is the giant cobblestone swastika. The word itself is also commonly used as a verb. For example: "He lavacasted the base".

A lavacast is a structure made of cobblestone created by pouring water over lava, mostly used for griefing. Lavacasts are what give spawn its easily recognizable look. Lavacasts usually resemble mountains or pyramids, and sometimes but can take many different shapes depending on the manner in which they were created. Lavacasts often contain small air pockets. Lavacasts are generally used to quickly grief large areas. They are also sometimes used to create walls or large structures in general. A rare but well-known usage of lavacasts is creating huge symbols, the most famous example of which is the giant cobblestone swastika. The word itself is also commonly used as a verb (eg: "He lavacasted the base.")

History

There are no records of lavacasts at spawn in 2010. xcc2, a 4channer who joined in early 2011, claims that spawn was not lavacasted in early 2011 and that the very first lavacast he saw was at NFE, several months after he joined. This would have been in early to mid-2011.[1]

Inner spawn was lavacasted by 2012.
